Philadelphia Commercial Energy Benchmarking Bill Passes Unanimously!
Philadelphia City Council unanimously passed legislation on June 21, 2012, to mandate energy benchmarking and disclosure in large commercial buildings! This is a great stride forward for energy efficiency in Philadelphia. The legislation encourages building owners and tenants to pay attention to energy use in buildings and ultimately, encourages implementation of water and energy savings measures that will make buildings more comfortable and less expensive to operate. The latest version of the bill as passed (Bill No. 120428) is available here.

Residential Energy Cost Disclosure in Philadelphia
Philadelphia City Council unanimously passed legislation on June 21, 2012, mandating that estimated annual energy costs be disclosed upon the sale of certain City-owned residential properties. Philadelphia joins three other cities and six other states that already have residential energy disclosure policies in place. This is a great stride forward for energy efficiency in Philadelphia, as it will drive residential property buyers to look for more energy-efficient spaces, and will also encourage owners to make their properties more energy-efficient. The latest version of the bill as passed (Bill No. 120056) is available here.
