10/02/2012

Pittsburgh, PA, November 16, 2011ACI and the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund announced that they will join forces to host the ACI Mid-Atlantic Conference at the Westin Convention Center, Pittsburgh, Pa., on October 1 - 2, 2012.

Affordable Comfort, Inc. (ACI), the nation's leading educational resource for the home performance and weatherization industry, started more than 25 years ago in Pittsburgh, and has built a strong network of partners regionally and nationally to advance the home performance and weatherization industries through its educational conferences.

This newly formed Mid-Atlantic conference is the product of the transformation of the PA Home Energy Conferences held in State College, Pa., since 2008 into a larger event. The West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund has provided a grant to ensure that the conference will be held in the Pittsburgh region in 2012 and the Philadelphia region in 2013.

"We are very proud to see the transition of the PA Home Energy Conference into a much larger Mid-Atlantic event," said Joel Morrison, Director of the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund. "Since 2008, we have seen PA Home Energy go from a grassroots organization to a regional event. We simply have outgrown State College and are pleased to once again partner with ACI, a leader in the home performance industry."

The event will be tailored for the climate concerns of the mid-Atlantic region and will offer two days of educational sessions designed to provide solutions and best practices for anyone involved in home energy retrofits, renewable energy installation practices, and much more.

"We are excited to bring an ACI conference back to Pittsburgh with our sponsor the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund," said ACI executive director, Amy Fazio. "As the economic downturn continues, the need for trained professionals in home performance and weatherization is critical to homeowners who want to lower their energy costs, as well as to the local economy, by providing green jobs in the workforce."

Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in an exhibition, featuring innovative tools, demonstrations and networking. For more information on ACI visit www.affordablecomfort.org.
