Energy Efficient Building Legislation Passes in Philadelphia
Philadelphia City Council voted unanimously on Dec. 10, 2009, to pass Bill No. 080025, which calls for new construction and major renovation of large City government buildings to be designed, constructed, and certified at the LEED-silver level.
The LEED-silver requirement applies to construction projects over 10,000 square feet that are primarily funded and controlled by the City. Energy efficiency measures like this will help meet the City's goal of reducing government energy consumption by 30% by 2015.
