Sizing the Clean Economy: A National and Regional Green Jobs Assessment

As a matter of aspiration, no swath of the economy has been more widely celebrated as a source of economic renewal and potential job creation. Yet, the clean economy remains an enigma: hard to assess. Not only do “green” or “clean” activities and jobs related to environmental aims pervade all sectors of the U.S.

EPA Finalizes Rules Under Clean Air Act

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson called the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule, which was originally known as the Clean Air Transport Rule, a "long overdue step" toward protecting public health.  The new rule will require power plants to cut their sulfur dioxide emissions by 73 percent and their nitrogen oxides by 54 percent from 2005 levels by 2014.

EPA Finalizes Change to Effective Date of ENERGY STAR Luminaires Specs

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is finalizing a change to the effective date of the ENERGY STAR Luminaires specification from October 1, 2011 to April 1, 2012. In addition, EPA has incorporated changes designed to better facilitate a smooth transition, including reducing certain sample size requirements.

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission today welcomed Pamela A. Witmer of Dauphin County to the Commission and thanked the Senate for its unanimous confirmation vote in support of her nomination.
