Energy Efficient Mortgages

Database of State Incentives for Renewable and Efficiency (DSIRE)

DSIRE is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility and federal incentives and policies that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, DSIRE is an ongoing project which provides an interactive map and comprehensive list of rebates and programs.

Energy Efficiency Mortages

An Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM) takes into account a home’s energy efficiency in setting terms of the mortgage itself. It lets borrowers finance cost-effective, energy-saving measures as part of a single mortgage and stretch debt-to-income qualifying ratios on loans, this means you can qualify for a larger loan amount and a more energy-efficient home.

Energy Efficiency Home Improvement Loans

Many lending institutions are beginning to offer home improvement loans to make your house more energy efficient. When applying for these loans, make sure to include a copy of your contract with your certified energy efficiency contractor.
