Why Join KEEA?
This is an exciting and challenging time to be involved in energy efficiency in Pennsylvania. The economic downturn somewhat dampened our euphoria over the success of Act 129, but it also makes our mission more vital. People need all the help we can muster to reduce their energy use and costs - and KEEA members are on the forefront of this vital effort. The number of houses and businesses that have been retrofitted continues to grow, and over 400 building analysts, energy auditors and energy raters have been trained.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds provided signifanct support for energy efficency in PA programs, and KEEA has had an active voice in determining how those funds are spent. The new ARRA funds for heating equipment rebates were designated to oil, natural gas and propane heating based on comments from KEEA. We also commented on Weatherization Training and Certification requirements. We are challenging legislation that would roll back PA’s energy building codes, and supporting bills that would allow municipalities to offer Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) bonds.
We are also focused on federal legislation that will expand EE funding, including the Home Star legislation and the Climate and Energy bill. KEEA members have met with DOE Secretary Chu, President Obama, and have joined numerous delegations to Washington to advocate on behalf of the energy efficiency interests of Pennsylvania businesses. If you believe any of these action items will make Energy Efficiency Work in our state, then sign up now.
